Meena collects zero personal data. No analytics, no tracking, no ads, no telemetry. Your photos never pass through our servers.
Meena is a photo and video manager that stores your media in your own private GitHub repository. The app runs entirely on your device and communicates directly with the GitHub API. There is no Meena server that processes or stores your data.
We do not collect, store, or transmit:
Meena uses GitHub OAuth to authenticate. When you sign in, you authorize Meena to access your GitHub repositories. Your OAuth token is stored securely on your device using the platform's secure storage (Keychain on iOS, Keystore on Android). The token is never sent to any server other than GitHub's API.
On web, the OAuth authorization code is exchanged for a token via a Vercel serverless function. This function acts as a stateless proxy — it does not log, store, or retain any data.
All photos and videos you upload through Meena are stored directly in your own GitHub repository. Meena does not have a backend server — media files travel directly from your device to GitHub's servers via their API.
Meena's vault feature encrypts files on your device using AES-256-GCM before uploading to GitHub. The encryption key is derived from your PIN using PBKDF2 with 100,000+ iterations and is held in memory only — it is never stored on disk or transmitted anywhere. GitHub only receives the encrypted blob, which is unreadable without your PIN.
Your app PIN is stored as a SHA-256 hash in the device's secure storage. The raw PIN is never persisted. Biometric authentication (Face ID / Touch ID) is handled entirely by the operating system — Meena does not access or store biometric data.

Meena does not use any analytics services, advertising networks, or crash reporting tools.
Meena does not knowingly collect any data from children under 13. Since the app collects no personal data from any user, no special provisions are needed.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date. Since Meena collects no data, significant changes are unlikely.
